At pisa2022.uk, we believe that education data is only as valuable as the lives it helps improve. While the Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) provides the world with rankings and benchmarks, our mission is to look closer at what those results actually mean for the four nations of the UK.
Who We Are
We are a team of educators, data enthusiasts, and policy advocates who believe that the future of the UK is written in its classrooms. We don’t just see “points” in math, reading, and science; we see the resilience of a generation that learned to navigate a global pandemic and the dedication of teachers who guided them through it.

Why This Site Exists
The 2022 PISA cycle was historic. It was the first major international check-in on student learning since the world changed in 2020. We created this platform to:
- Demystify the Data: Break down complex OECD reports into clear, actionable insights for parents, teachers, and policymakers.
- Highlight the “Human” Side: Focus on student well-being, equity, and the social-emotional factors that the headlines often skip.
- Foster Local Dialogue: Provide a dedicated space to discuss how England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland are evolving differently within the global landscape.
Our Philosophy
“Education is not the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire.” — William Butler Yeats
We approach data with intellectual honesty. We celebrate the successes where our students shine, but we are also unafraid to point out the gaps where our system is falling short. We believe that by looking honestly at the 2022 results, we can build a more equitable and inspiring educational future for 2025 and beyond.
